Club objectives

Mid-Ulster Athletic Club (incorporating Magherafelt & District Athletic Club) was founded in 1980. The main objects of the club are to:

    • Provide a safe environment for members to participate in athletics.

    • Develop track and field athletics, cross country, fell and road running.

    • Support or subscribe to such charities and other charitable purposes as shall be recommended by the Annual General Meeting.

    • Promote an Anti-Sectarian Policy and Child Protection Policy within the Club.

The Club is affiliated to Athletics Northern Ireland, the governing body for the sport of athletics in N. Ireland.

Club Membership

Mid-Ulster Athletic Club is a community amateur sports club that is open to any person aged 5 and over regardless of experience, ability, gender or background. It currently comprises the following membership:

120 Junior Athletes (aged 5 – 10)

60 Development and Senior Athletes (aged 11+)

20 Coaches (accredited by the UK governing body, UK Athletics)

as well as the officers of the Management Committee (see Appendix 1). It is run on an entirely voluntary basis. The majority of young athletes undertaking physical education in the Club are in formal education.
