FEBRUARY - Annual Alliance Winter Hike
2018: Saturday, February 3. Meet at 10 a.m. at the Iron Bridge Trail Head Parking Lot. We will hike in search of the bison at Midewin. Dress appropriately. If it snows, bring your snowshoes or cross-country skis.  Lunch to follow at the Road House Restaurant in Manhattan.. 
MARCH - Annual Alliance Spring Hike
2018: Saturday, March 24.  Meet at 10 a.m. at Midewin's "P-3" River Road Parking Lot.  We will hike the Prairie Creek Woods Loop and the Blodgett Marsh Trail.  Lunch to follow at Hayden's Crossing Restaurant in Wilmington. 
JULY- Alliance Annual Meeting & Picnic
2018:  Saturday, July 21. Midewin volunteers, staff, friends, and family are invited to an evening potluck picnic and (very short) Alliance meeting on the Midewin Supervisor's Office back patio.  The Alliance will supply the meats/veggies and beverages.  Please bring a side dish or dessert to share. Food served at 6 p.m., rain or shine. 
JULY- Alliance Annual Day Trip Outing
2018:  Sunday, July 22.  Meet at 11 a.m.  A guided tour of Powderhorn Marsh & Prairie near Hegewisch, IL.  Lunch at Pullman Café with a guided tour after.  Please RSVP to Jerry Heinrich at or 815)476-6171.  More details in our latest newsletter.
SEPTEMBER - National Public Lands Day
2018: Saturday, September 29.  All are welcome to volunteer to help harvest seed, enhance public trails, protect historical sites, and monitor streams, etc. Project teams fill up fast -- to RSVP contact Kathryn Gorman, Midewin Volunteer Coordinator at (815) 423-2148.  Bring a bag lunch, the Alliance will provide drinks and snack.
MARCH - 2018 Annual Volunteer Recognition Banquet & Silent Auction
2019 - Is scheduled for Saturday, March 30, 2019, 4 p.m. at the Renaissance Center in downtown Joliet.  This invitation only event recognizes the many volunteers who qualified with their service times during the year with a dinner, awards and short program.  We are accepting items for the Silent Auction.  All proceeds will be placed in the Alliance Bison Fund and used for bison related purchases. 
DECEMBER - Midewin Alliance Holiday Dinner
2018:  Thursday, December 20, 5 p.m.  Williamson's Restaurant, New Lenox. The Alliance Board of Directors welcome Alliance members to meet them for an informal holiday dinner prior to the Board meeting.
