Kingdom of Trimaris Seneschallate, Baronial Polling Process Policy: https://www.trimaris.org/files/forms/Baronial_Polling.pdf
The Polling will be held from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm. If, in the opinion of the Crown Trimaris, the results of that polling do not show a clear preference, runoff polling may be held immediately following the closing and tabulation of ballots from the first poll. Members are encouraged to remain onsite should a second poll be necessary.
Persons wishing to participate in the polling must meet both of the following criteria:
1) Must be a paid member of the SCA Inc.
2) Membership address must be in one of the zip codes assigned to the Barony (including Cantons if applicable) being polled.
Membership and zip codes will be verified at the polling site with the membership list provided by the SCA office of the registrar. If the person wishing to submit polling is not on the membership list provided by the SCA office of the registrar, they must provide acceptable proof of current membership before being permitted to complete a polling form.
A Driver’s License or government picture ID will be required to be shown to prove identity.
ABSENTEE BALLOTS
Proxy ballots are NOT allowed. If you are unable to attend the polling, you may follow the procedures below to submit an Absentee Ballot. No exceptions will be made to the timeline or contents for an Absentee Ballot to be counted, so review the requirements carefully, and send your letters in as soon as the candidates are announced.
You must send your Absentee Ballot to the person chosen by the Crown to administer the polling. Your absentee ballot must be RECEIVED by the date published in the Baronial newsletter to be counted. DO NOT require a signature at delivery on a mailed ballot, as that may delay delivery. If there is a second polling, absentee ballots will only be counted if the preferred candidates remain in the run-off polling.
Any Absentee Ballot must be legible and contain ALL of the following information:
1) Your modern name, your SCA name, your membership number, the expiration date of that membership, and your mailing address, including zip code.
2) Photocopy of Driver’s License or government picture ID showing your modern name, zip code. In the case that the zip code is incorrect on the Driver’s License or the usage of a government picture ID with no zip code a current utility bill may be used to verify the zip codes (family members, or persons residing in the same residence may use the same bill for verification).
Wolfmom's special note: Please include a copy of your SCA MEMBERSHIP CARD with your license as the records for membership may not be up to date!
3) Your order of preference for the announced slate of candidates. List your preferred candidates first, followed by your second choice, etc.
a. You may provide any commentary on the suitability of each candidate in this section. Commentary should be whatever you feel might better inform the Crown in Their decision

Questions
G: Gwenna
A: al Thaalibi
E: Eva
T: Thalassia
Recruitment and maintenance of members
T: Use past methods (Facebook, consistent meetings) Be visible digitally and in real life
E: Go to fighter practices to assist visibility and foster new members
A: Invite past members to touch base and find what they enjoy in the group
G: Digital and physical presence is necessary. Need to work on our outreach. Bring everyone together instead of fragmented groups
Rising costs and large events. What would you change to help the group financially and event attendance
G: Burnout happens too often. Outreach to new members and include them in running events. Reach out on a personal level.
A: Officer cohesion. Encourage us to be bigger and better at other people's events as well.
E: Human resource utilization. Include new members and offer guidance with events. Make people feel comfortable and welcome to be part of events
T: Creating value in our group. All members need to see what value the group offers. It provides skill building that can be used in daily life. The cost of an event is worth it and people can see what they are getting out of it.
How do we light the spirit fire under this barony again? Want to hear specifics on how to be cohesive
T: Get all the fractured groups to the table to understand the reason behind it and try to solve it by use of compromise.
E: Personal invitation. Ask on an individual basis to include others in activities.
A: You need to show up and be present to speak with members
G: We can't force anyone, but we can encourage our members. Encourage cross pollination in our fractured groups.
Baronial nobles are representing us in the SCA and outside the SCA. How will you manage time/finances/resources to accomplish it?
A: Always willing to travel. Knowledge of people in and out of our kingdom. Attending small and large events. Being a noble will give me more incentive to do so. Events are budgeted in to entertainment category.
E: Has cleared schedule to make room for events. Recently attended events in East Kingdom. Works fairly long hours at school but frees up weekends for events. No longer a student and now has a full time job. Plans time off to save energy for events. Also has entertainment budget for events.
G: Budget debts almost paid off and 2 years from retirement. Psychologically she is a strong introvert but has a public face. Knows when she needs time to rest. 2 baronials can allow one time to rest while another attends the event. Promise of a minimum of 1 event per month.
T: Personally got a nice raise this year. Debt is being paid and finances are not an issue. Discussion with spouse about the importance of being a baronial candidate. Has come up with a year from the best to the minimum. Will also use partner to share baronial responsibilities. Flexibility is built into the plan. Has the support of friends and family for the upcoming baby.
What is your role as a baronial head?
T: Cheerleader. Be a leader but not be in front. Encourage from all sides and lift others up.
E: Also cheerleader. Within the barony to lift people up and supporting the officers. Try to create worth in the barony. From outside to promote the barony. Represent them in a positive light. Use of diplomacy.
A: Baronial nobles are the crowns' extension. We do voluntarily what the middle age people did for money. Let the crown know that you are supporting your group.
G: Has experience as baronial head and seneschal who is the manager. As a baronial to support officers and show up. All the candidates are qualified and members should choose their "flavor" of candidate. Marriage is the most important relationship and will continue to be a part of the SCA and have fun.
Style of conflict resolution with other people as a baronial team
G&A: Human conflict will happen. Has experience with conflict resolution. Will treat adults like adults. If you cannot treat others with respect then you need to excuse yourself from the group.
T&E: Talking it out method. Experience with conflict resolution. Give each side ability to talk. Bring them together. Talking through problems can get to at least a basic coexist level. Be a mediator. Truth is between 2 points of view. Do not avoid the conflict. Don't let it build. Take action quickly.
What is 1 thing you would keep and 1 thing you'd change about the current reign
A: Courts held during meetings. Practice for royal or baronial courts. Schedule conflict prevented this. A brief court practice on 5th Tuesdays.
G: Nothing specific. Would need to speak and get recommendations from the baronials now.
E: Garb meetings are fun. Bring entertainment to meetings. Divide and conquer responsibilities with the current reign and can also be together.
T: Non married and/or same sex couples and how friends can reign together was a good example set from this reign.
What kind of support can the canton expect?
T&E: Coming down to canton meetings once a month. Supporting events. What would the canton like to see? Wants canton to feel part of the barony.
A: schedule conflicts have interferred, but will put more effort into attending meeting and listening to the canton.
G: Would like to hear from canton about what they need.
Does the baronials have a pet project for the reign
G: Nothing specific. Looking for new experiences.
A: To make a presence in the art/teaching world and include the canton. Patron of the arts
E: Nothing specific. Making sure there is baronial identity and unity. Have people serve in their own way.
T: Civility reign. Make the barony a stable place. Meet basic needs before high needs.
What direction do you want to go for Hoggetown?
T: Don't kill people. If we don't have the people we can't do it. Use volunteers efficiently. Evaluate your resources.
E: Unmanned static displays are helpful if short volunteers. Baronials can advise but this up to the group as a whole.
A: This is a question for the officers and barony as a group. Baronial heads can provide energy and encouragement but cannot make the decision.
Clarification: Hoggetown should be recruitment/education or money making
G: it has to be both. Don't over extend ourselves. Finding ways to cut back on the labor needed. We've lost our cash cows and Hoggetown is mostly it. Need to educate and raise money. No easy answer and we will have to reevaluate it.
T&E: we have to split the difference. Both are important parts of hoggetown. Educate/recruit/money. Expenditures are down now meeting at free spaces. Takes a small amount of necessity down to make money most important.
Baronial noble and focus on historical accuracy or a social activity club. What would you encourage most?
E: 14th century garb is personal choice. This group doesn't exist if we try to meet a certain level. You do you. Encourage more authenticity if members are interested otherwise have fun. Hold ourselves to higher stands and not force them on anyone else.
T: Representing the part. May need to up the game for baronial office. Be better and inspire in your role.
A: Absolute opportunity to bring up the game. Lead by example.
G: Bring the attitude of the period not the clothes is the most important. Will exemplify that.
