Mia is the group leader of Coastal Microbiomes at the University of Greifswald
Katharina is a Postdoc in the SeaStore project and is interested in how seagrass meadow microbiomes influence seagrass restoration outcomes.
Sabine is the lab manager of the Aquatic Microbiomes group and is especially interested in microbial processes in marine sediments.
Anne is doing her PhD on the role of seed and sediment microbiomes for seagrass meadow restoration (funded by a DBU stipend). She is also an enthusiastic sailor.
Rebecca is a PhD student investigating the topic of potentially pathogenic Vibrio spp. bacteria and their occurrence in seagrass meadows.
Robin is a PhD student in the POMPU project, studying the stucture and function of particle microbiomes during phytoplankton blooms.
Tim is a PhD student in the WETSCAPES2.0 Collaborative Research Centre where he is investigating connectivity and spatial variability of peatland microbiomes
Former group members
Anteneh is a PhD student in the Response graduate school and is applying novel metaproteomics techniques to unravel the role of the microbiome of the lichen Lobaria pulmonata under a changing climate. He is currently working in the Applied Bioinformatics group at the University of Greifswald.
Marina was a PhD student in the LakeMix project, studying the role of mixotrophic bacterivory on lake microbial communities. She successfully defended her PhD in December 2023.
Dorothea defended her Diploma thesis titled "Seagrass meadows as filters or reservoirs of potentially pathogenic Vibrios in the Baltic Sea" in Pharmacy in 2021. Her work contributed to the published paper "Ecology of potentially pathogenic Vibrio spp. in a seagrass meadow ecosystem" (Gebbe et al. 2025)
Sabri defended his MSc thesis on microbial interactions in marine phytoplankton blooms in the framework of the POMPU project in 2021. His work contributed to the published paper "Marine particle microbiomes during a spring diatom bloom contain active sulfate-reducing bacteria" (Siebers et al. 2024)
