2019 -12 Note from Maureen (Chase) Baird
I was looking forward to the class reunion at Mary’s home in October. However, my husband Toby had emergency gall bladder surgery with complications just at that time and we were unable to attend.
It has been a slow recovery, but he is, thankfully, pretty much back to himself now. We spent the summer in Maine, as usual, returning to Lakeville in mid-September. Our volunteerism at our church has been cut back though I still serve as historian and am very involved with the Christmas fair. Toby sold his Citabria airplane a year ago after 45 years of flying, but still “hangar flies” with his pilot friends at Taunton Airport most mornings. Our two granddaughters are Katy 17 (Mike and Berni’s in Lowell) and Callie 14 (Karen and Matt’s in CT)and we are in touch frequently with facetime and texting. It is almost as good as being with them. Katy is looking at colleges and Callie is enjoying 8th grade and her gymnastic competitions.
The photos posted on-line of classmates at the reunion were great to see. In my opinion, we have aged well and don’t look as old as our birthdates claim we are. I am attaching a couple of photos. The one at the lake in Maine was taken last summer and the other at the church Christmas fair was taken in November.
I hope you enjoy the holiday season!
Sincerely, Maureen (Chase) Baird
2019-10 Note from John McCulloch
Thanks to Mary & Dick for hosting the 60th reunion.
I am sorry for missing yet another get together. I was actually contemplating making the trip this year but my struggle with a balky leg due to sciatic nerve/arthritis made me think again. Luckily I was able to visit with a few of you last year when I was there delivering my mother's ashes to the Nemasket Cemetery (she lived to 102). Only a couple of significant happenings have occurred in my world since the 50th reunion in 2014. The most traumatic for me was the loss of my wife of 52 years, Tomi, in June 2016. Then in May of 2017 my kids and I made a trip to Tomi's birthplace in southern Japan to take a portion of her ashes to the family burial site. Her family were the most gracious hosts that you could ever imagine. And, life goes on despite the bumps in the road. Retirement here on California's Central Coast continues to be good. The generally good weather and casual lifestyle fits me well. I keep active in a small church and seem to have become the default secretary/handyman, that I enjoy when the physical parts are not too strenuous. We are preparing to celebrate that group's 90th anniversary in October. My children continue to be doing well in their chosen professions. Daughter Joyce recently resigned from being an executive in a large corporate environment (PG&E in San Francisco) to now setting up her own independent business for Diversity & Inclusion consulting. Son William seems to enjoy his stock brokerage back-office support role in Phoenix. My only granddaughter, Kyrie, is a student at Arizona State and works in a chiropractor's office. My younger sister, Beth, is here in Santa Maria and also has a place in the Palm Springs area since her husband is a golf nut. Older sister, Bonnie, also lives in the Palm Springs area. Changes are a natural part of living. Hope all of you are getting along at least ok, if not great. Seems like family gatherings these days dissolve into discussions of medical conditions and treatments.

Best to all !!
I sold my place in the Blue Ridge mountains in VA last October and now
temporarily in Lexington until I decide where to land more permanently.
In the meantime I stay mobile in my camper van. Also working as care giver
for several people in my former town of Montebello.
Daughter, Jami, has a beautiful cottage on the coast of Maine near Bar Harbor.
Granddaughter, Julian, doing very well in Charlottesville, VA working and
continuing her college education.
Many good wishes to all.
Madelyn
From Mary (King) Cook: Come on folks. Join in and keep in touch. John will add photos or announcements to the site. You all must be doing something. Kathy McDonald Walker is moving. Janice Pierce Smith is visiting Middleboro from Nova Scotia.
2009
From Kathy (McDonald) Walker: We are in the process of a move to NC. It is slow as the house in Virginia has not sold. We are building on to our youngest daughter’s house. They have over an acre lot. That needs to be finished before we sell anyway so we take it a day at a time. We took the sign down and leaving for parts south for the winter. Draining the pipes and shutting the door! With laptops and cell phones we can work anywhere. I just got the new DROID and now need to learn how to operate it. It seems to do everything but cook dinner.
