Premarital

The premarital/pre-engagement "program" includes:

• an online inventory (Prepare/Enrich) of the relationship

• 6 to 9 sessions (50 minutes each) spread out over whatever period of time is convenient

• regular homework tailored to your availability and resources for further growth

Areas covered:

• assessment of boundary issues

• elements of differentiation

• stages of couple development

• influence of family of origin on couple relationship

• vicarious living and othering

• Enneagram workup (if desired)

• marriage expectations

• personality issues

• communication and conflict resolution

• the 4 horsemen: criticism, contempt, defensiveness, stonewalling

• sex and intimacy

• finances

• children and parenting expectations

• expectations around martial roles

• expectations regarding spiritual practices

• leisure activity compatibility issues

• cross-cultural issues (if relevant)

• Family System Evaluation (if time allows)

• traditions and tools for couple enrichment

In general, the majority of the sessions are given to the most prominent issue(s) in your particular relationship. The items on the list above are not given equal time.
