Marieke van der Schaaf

Marieke van der Schaaf completed an undergraduate degree in clinical neuropsychology (Amsterdam) as well as a Neuroscience and Cognition Master’s degree (Utrecht). During her PhD in the cognitive control group of Rosan Cools, Marieke focused on the role of dopamine in reward- and punishment-based reversal learning. After that she worked as a post doc at the Expert Centre for Chronic Fatigue in Nijmegen investigating the neural mechanisms of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and at the Universitats klinikum in Essen to study appetative and aversive pain learning. In June 2018 she obtained the Young Investigators Grant of the Dutch Cancer Foundation to start her research group focusing on the role of immune-brain interaction in motivational changes and cancer-related fatigue.

Britt Lambregts

PhD student

Britt Lambregts obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences and a Master’s degree in Cognitive Neuroscience at the Radboud University Nijmegen. For the Research Master she did her one-year internship in the lab of Roshan Cools on the role of striatal dopamine in reward- versus punishment-based learning. After staying in the lab as research assistant for one year, she is now investigating the neural mechanisms of cancer-related fatigue as PhD candidate. To this end, she is using behavioral testing, neuroimaging, psychopharmacology and computational modelling in cancer patients, survivors and healthy subjects.
