A diagnosis is often difficult in children, as the young ME/CFS sufferer don’t describe fatigue. They will just go lie down and not say “I am tired”. Undiagnosed they may fail school, be labeled as trouble makers (as they can not concentrate to do their work), on school reports there may be comments such as trouble maker, lazy makes no effort, can do better, not keen to participate in sport.
ME/CFS is managed the same as in adults except exercise programmes are not needed to be set up as once children are feeling better they just get out and do things according to how they feel.
Education is often better managed by correspondence schools. Many children often have trouble with understanding and concentrating. Often these children were named truants so they need a very good Doctor to help the situation if this still happens.
