NASA Scholarship Information

This is a competitive research scholarship opportunity limited to TMCC students interested in undergraduate research. Students work one-on-one with a faculty mentor to participate in undergraduate research using the scientific method. You are encouraged to reach out to a faculty member to discuss research opportunities prior to submitting your application.

Other academic Institutions in Nevada are participating in this Community of Practice, and students will have opportunities to share their research with other scholarship recipients at the annual statewide meeting, with the possibility of participating in academic conferences and networking opportunities in their respective fields.

This research scholarship is designed to build your research skills, and no prior experience is necessary. Students, however, are expected to be self-motivated, responsible, and interested in learning about the scientific method.

Requirements: U.S. citizen, enrolled in 6+ credits at TMCC

Expectations: recipients will work closely with a faculty member to participate in at least 45 hours of undergraduate research throughout the semester. There will also be 2-3 meetings for all statewide recipients.

Application: students must submit a) an unofficial transcript, b) a recommendation letter from the faculty mentor you will be working with, and c) a research statement that includes a brief overview of the research project, how this scholarship and research opportunity will be of benefit to you, any relevant past research experience, and future plans. Please coordinate the completion of your application with your research mentor.
