My name is Dr. Megan Ewald and I am the Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction at Lisle High School in Lisle, IL. I have been an educator since 2002. I have taught AP Seminar, Honors Biology, Honors Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, Key Ideas and General Chemistry, Anatomy and Physiology, Conceptual Physics, and General Physics. I have been involved in developing biology and chemistry curricula with an emphasis on pedagogy. As a life-long learner, I continue to research and experiment with different learning and reading strategies. I have been an active member of multiple committees including Grading Task Force, Reading Assessment Team, Data Team, and AI Task Force , which provides evidence of my passion for learning. Since I “flipped” some of my classes in 2012, I have become very secure and comfortable implementing new technology into the classroom. Using Screen-Casts, One Note, Camtasia, and Google Apps, I created a culture of learning in my classroom that was individualized and intentional. My passion for leadership and educating teachers inspired me to earn my Doctorate of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Northern Illinois University. My educational experiences and previous position as an Instructional Coach have led me to instruct various professional development classes and presentations at multiple local and national conferences. These experiences have helped me to foster leadership skills, the ability to form relationships with other educators, and the opportunity to transform other educators through these experiences into change agents.
