Prof. Jonathan McFarland, Medical English trainer, Palma de Mallorca, Spain - Facilitating Medical English for Non-British Doctors
Jonathan McFarland has been dedicated to teaching Medical English for more than 14 years. Currently he is working in two public hospitals in Mallorca, as well as the private sector. He strongly believes that what he is doing is essential for non-British doctors, and although he has mainly worked with Spanish doctors he has recently embarked on a new venture in conjunction with Sechenov Medical University in Moscow. Among other projects are: a Medical app called Men's App, and "The Networked Doctor", with Annalisa Manca. The first aims to spread awareness of men’s health, and the second to help doctors understand the potential of social media for their work and life, with the connecting thread being communication. He is also President of MHAM (Medical Humanities Association of Mallorca), and a member of AMEE (Association Medical Education Europe). He is also studying a Masters in Medical Education at Dundee University. He lives in the beautiful town of Soller, in the Tramuntana mountains of Mallorca with “his family and other animals”, and in his spare time he loves walking in the mountains, reading, cooking paella, drinking good wine and looking after his garden.
