São Roque Hill

From Convento do Carmo you have three routes, either you go right towards the hill of São Roque or you come back to Rua Garrett. In São Roque you have "Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara". Go up the street to two of the most famous (old) pubs Pavilhão Chinês, and Foxtrot. Next to Miradouro you find a tram that is a bit different, it's a lift, called Elevador da Glória and it takes you to Restauradores where you have Hard Rock Café, worth a visit, they have live concerts there. That big avenue, Avenida da Liberdade, is where you have the most expensive shops. You also have there Hot Club (the oldest jazz club in Europe). This avenue ends in Praça Marquês de Pombal (where the football league champions celebrate), the guy that recovered Lisbon after the earthquake of 1755. Also the place where we celebrate championships, hence the photo in the link. If you are in this square, with the river behind, you have the main offices to the right (Saldanha, where you also have Gulbenkian gardens and the restaurant of my uncle - Taberna do Quelha) and to the left (Amoreiras, big mall with a 360º view on top). In front of you there is Parque Eduardo VII (where the book fair is held every June). At the top, where you have the big flag you have my favourite view of the city: all the hills with the river in the end, impossible not to fall in love with that! If you had spare time and feel like going to another typical neighbourhood go to Campo De Ourique and take a walk in Aqueduto das Aguas Livres, which even today takes the water to the city.
