General Tips

- Sunday morni ng all museums have free entrance

- my favourite dishes: ovos mexidos com farinheir a (scrambled eggs with

spiced pork sausage), arroz de marisco (seafood rice) or caldeirada (seafood

with potatoes), bacalhau à brás (cod with very tiny fried potato), pescadinha

de rabo na boca com arroz de tomate (fried fish with tomato rice - you will not

find in every place), beef from any of the places I told you above, espetada

(skewer with grilled meat and peppers), feijoada/cozido (quite heavy stews but

worth to try), any grilled fish (preferably sardines if it is summer), pastel de

nata (especially Belém), bolo de bolacha (cookies' cake, usually heavy so you

better share), bola de berlim (to buy and eat at the beach!)

- speaking about this... doubt of restaurants with flags in the menu and

translation in many languages. Make use of the dishes list above.

- we do not usually serve pints so ask for imperial and enjoy payi ng between 0.5

and 2€ for it, more than that you're being robbed

- tips are not usually included in the bill and we d o not have a "rule" for that -

feel free to put what you think they deserve

- many times the tube has only 3 carriages - follow the crowd and get closer to

the first carriages

- choose either the weekly/daily pass or zapping which you charge with money

and can use both in the tube and in buses. Take care of this in the tube when

you arrive because buying tickets at the bus is much more expensive

- if you feel like eating a sweet or a light meal look for a Padaria Portuguesa around, there are dozens of them in Lisbon
