Introduction
King Tut fascinates both students and adults. Since the discovery of his tomb in 1922, why has so much interest been generated about this young pharaoh? Could it be the enormous gold and treasure discovered in his tomb? Or is it the mystery surrounding the young king's early death? You and your renowned team have been hired by the Egyptian government to determine if King Tut was murdered.
Your Task
Your team must explore various sources to learn about King Tut and the circumstances surrounding his early death.
The members of the team: medical examiner, a reporter, an archaeologist, a history professor, and a historian. Each member of the team will visit several sites and answer to the following questions:
1. How old was King Tut when he died?
2. What information did you find concerning his death?
3. Who or what was responsible for his death?
4. Who succeeded Tut to the throne?
5. Is the site you visited reliable? Explain.
6. What other "facts" are included about his death?
Medical Examiner will visit King Tut's Death
The Reporter will visit Tutankhamun: Boy King and King Tut's Tomb
The archaeologist will visit Egypt:Was "Sly Ay" a Nice Guy? (make sure to read both pages)
The historian will visit Tutankhamun's Life
The history professor will visit Mysteries of Egypt
Procedure
1. Create a Google Slides document for your group to contribute to. Pre-create it with 5 slides for each person, type that person's name on each slide so we know who's is whos. (ex 4 people = 20 slides)
2. Complete your research individually as your member of the team. Be sure to site your sources by making a word document to keep track of where you found your research. When you have completed your research, compile your information into your Google Slides presentation. (Make sure to only use Your designated slides!)
3. After you and all of your teammates have completed their slides, Teams members must collaborate and synthesize their information gained from their site visits. Was King Tutankhamun murdered? The team will write a persuasive essay stating and defending their position on this topic to go with your Google Slides presentation. Decide amongst your group who will talk about which slides.
