Airports and shuttles

Most Flagstaff visitors fly into Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport because it is the closest major international airport to Flagstaff; just over 2 hours' drive (151 miles).

Flagstaff Airport is the closest small commercial airport to Flagstaff, just a 5-mile drive from downtown. Flagstaff is currently serviced daily by one commercial airline: US Airway Express flying into Flagstaff from exclusively Phoenix.

A very good shuttle service is available to/from Phoenix airport from downtown flagstaff ($41/pp each way)

Lodging

Our recommended hotel is the Drury Inn & Suites which is situated on the edge of Northern Arizona University campus and close to downtown.

A good alternative, but further from downtown and the conference venue, is the Embassy Suites

You like an older hotel with more history and character? Our recommendation is the Monte Vista Hotel. Ask for a room on the San Francisco street side or the back side.

A good historic downtown alternative is the Hotel Weatherford just down the street

These places are marked on the map below, as well as the conference location:

About Flagstaff, Arizona:

Flagstaff is a 2-hour drive north of Phoenix and sits in the forest at 7,000 ft in elevation. March is "late-winter" and usually sunny with highs in the 50's and lows around freezing. March is the perfect time to visit nearby Sedona (an hour south and couple thousand feet down) and the Grand Canyon (an hour northwest to the South Rim). Lees Ferry, the site of the proposed field trip, is about 2.5 hours northeast and also lower in elevation.
