# Mathematical Cultures

This project hosted a series of three conferences with associated publications on mathematics as culture and mathematics in culture.

It is a research network funded by the **Arts and Humanities Research Council** under the 'science in culture' theme, with additional support from the **London Mathematical Society**.

There is a collection of papers based on the three conferences, published in 2016 under the Birkhäuser Science imprimatur of the Springer group.

The first conference (10-12 September 2012) explored the variety of and connections among contemporary mathematical cultures.

The second conference examined the values that shape and direct mathematical activity, be it research, teaching or the application of mathematics. It took place 17-19 September 2013 at De Morgan House (London). Conference Programme

The third conference considered the relation between mathematics and other cultures, whether popular or specialist. It took place 10-12 April 2014 at De Morgan House (London).
