Masnizah Mohd is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Information Science and Technology (FTSM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). She is in the Knowledge Technology (KT) research group and the Head of the Cyber Intelligence lab at the Center for Cyber Security (Cyber).

She did her sabbatical at INVOKE Solutions Sdn Bhd from Mac - July, 2021. She was assigned under the Analytics department where she works on her projects for her research area and is part of the data science sprint for products and client projects. Previously, she did her postdoc at the Natural Language Processing (SHIRAI) laboratory, School of Information Science, Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST) from May 2014 to March 2016. She received her PhD in Computer and Information Sciences from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow UK (2010) under the supervision of Prof. Fabio Crestani and Prof. Ian Ruthven. She holds M.IT (2002) and B.IT (1999) degrees in Information Science from the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.

Her main research interests are in the areas of Information Retrieval (IR), Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Cyber Intelligence; with particular focus on aspects such as user interaction, user interface, named entity recognition, user tasks and evaluation.

She also served as the main secretariat in Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) such as Information Retrieval and Knowledge Management Society Malaysia (PECAMP) and Cyber Security Academia Malaysia (CSAM).
