Otherland, Books 1-4 by Tad Williams

I’ve spent the last few weeks rereading the Otherland series by Tad Williams. It is composed of four books “City of Golden Shadow,” “River of Blue Fire,” “Mountain of Black Glass,” and “Sea of Silver Light.”

The book is set in the near future, where virtual reality is as commonplace as e-mail is today. As children around the world begin falling into coma’s, a few people began digging into the phenomenon. Brought together, the group ends up in the virtual world, Otherland, a place just as realistic as the real world. The group struggles to survive as they uncover more and more information about Otherland, and the group behind it’s creation, the Grail Brotherhood.

I can only say that this fabulous series is better the second time around. I’ve been able to pick up on things that I missed during the first reading, which has added a whole new depth to the story. Overall, fantastic. This is definitely a must read, just make sure you dedicate enough time to read it through all at once.
