CURRENT HERD
MILLIE
Bay Clyde/Thoroughbred
Millie has been in our barn the longest, so she knows her job well. She is a pro at giving lessons, and is a great teacher for all riders, regardless of level. She has sweet ground manners and is lovely under saddle, making her a great mount for gaining confidence as a rider.
TEX
Quarter Horse
Tex is a wonderful addition to our herd. He got his name because he came from a ranch in Texas! He is an easy going and loveable guy, suitable for all levels. Tex is learning to jump and seems to really enjoy it!
SONNY
Quarter Horse
Before joining MEC, Sonny was an Amish trail horse. Fun fact: Sonny's original name was Lightning but after meeting him, MEC decided "Sonny" was a better fit because of his easy-going demeanor.
DAWN
Belgian Warmblood
Dawn is a recent addition to our herd. She is a very sweet and photogenic beginner-friendly gray mare that we're excited to have on our Campus Farm!
Random (Seduction)
Standardbred
Random is a 2009 mare originally from Ontario. She actually fostered with a former professor from my Alma Mater : ) She was a kill pen pull a couple years ago and you would never know it since she has been taking everything in stride
Jerry(tone)
Standardbred
2016 gelding who was quite successful during his race career. He is proving to be lovingly goofy as he learns the ropes here.
PAST HERD MEMBERS
DIVA
Palomino Quarter Horse
Diva is the smallest member of our herd, but she has a lot of personality to make up for her size. She certainly lives up to her name and can be quite the little speedster when she gets excited! Diva is now retired and owned by a member of the ANSC faculty.
QUIN
Thoroughbred
Quin is one of our most experienced horses as an ex-racer. He is a super sweet and willing horse to chill with, though he is a little silly.
OLIVER
Thoroughbred
Oliver began his career as a racehorse and then transitioned to eventing. He served as a fun mount for our upper-level riders. Oliver is educated on the flat, loves to jump, and is a total cuddle bug in the barn. His vibrant personality made him a great addition to our herd, and we thoroughly enjoyed having him around. He is enjoying his new home in New York.
NOBLE / BLUE
Belgian/Quarter Horse
Noble now lives out west in Montana. She is trail riding and eventing with a loving home. Blue was acquired by our assistant farm manager who developed a close bond with her as a foal. She hopes to develop her into an eventing horse but is open to doing whatever discipline that Blue enjoys!
CLIFFORD
Belgian Draft
Clifford was a former police horse with the Montgomery County Park Police. He had a sweet disposition and a smooth trot, despite being new to dressage techniques and jumping.
ROCKET
Red Roan Appaloosa
Rocket was our resident extrovert. He is always excited to meet new people and as sweet as can be. He recently converted over from Western to English riding, and he's doing his best to learn! He is a great horse for beginner riders and equestrians. Rocket is now enjoying his life elsewhere!
MAY
Chestnut Paint Quarter Horse
May was our feistiest addition to our herd. Though has a big personality and a lot of attitude, she definitely has a sweet side and was a great learning ride for our beginner riders.
LAYLA
Chestnut Thoroughbred
Layla is an off-track thoroughbred who is very honest, eager to please, and very sweet. Layla has found her place at a thoroughbred center away from busy campus life where she is enjoying a more advanced training program.
ODYN
Black Friesian Cross
Odyn was our resident toddler. He is a very funny, goofy, playful horse who used to pull carriages. This handsome fella has found a new home and is currently enjoying running through fields!
BOONE
Dun
Boone was an adorable, loving horse who has been missed by many now that he has retired. He made an excellent beginner horse for many of our riders.
VINO
Seal Bay
Vino joined us in the Fall of 2015 and fit in very nicely at pur farm! He loves to cuddle, and greeted every member with his sweet face and tons of enthusiasm! Vino left us to join another barn with our previous Head of Training, Rachel Grassick. We know he will enjoy grazing with new friends.
