Frequently Asked Questions

When are practices?

We organize games and practices throughout the fall and spring semesters. See the Practice Schedule.

Are there tryouts?

We do not hold formal tryouts, but there is an evaluation process during the beginning of the semester to determine who plays on the two competitive teams. If you are not selected to play with the competitive teams, you are invited to join open evaluation days throughout the semester. These days will be posted on our Facebook Group, Instagram, and in the Practice Schedule.

Can I join in the middle of the semester?

There is an open-enrollment period implemented by RecWell. After October 1, those wishing to join the club will have to go to the Club Sports Office in Eppley to sign up.

How do I get to play in games?

Each team will selected by a group of officers based on 4 pillars of futbol:

1. Attitude

2. Skill

3. Vision (soccer IQ)

4. Work rate

Speak with the officers if you are unclear about what each pillar entails.

Is there a fee to join the club?

Yes, membership dues are necessary to pay for referees, travel expenses, and equipment. Dues will be enforced for anyone who participates in the club, but will be more for those who play on a competitive team. Speak with an officer at practice to learn more.

What happens if there is bad weather?

In the case of inclement weather, outdoor practices may be cancelled. Updates will be posted via Instagram and groupme. Assume practice is on unless otherwise stated.

What happens if the school is closed?

If the University of Maryland is closed, practice is cancelled.
