Our Pastors

Administrator:  Deacon Charles A. Litteken  

Deacon Litteken has been married for the past 39 years and is blessed with one daughter and six sons.  Mr. Litteken was a junior high math and science teacher for 8 years.  Ordained in April, 1997 at the Cathedral of St. Peter in Belleville, he ministered at St. Francis of Assisi in Aviston for the first 10 years and continues to minister there on a part time basis.  In 2007, he began his administrative position here at St. Teresa of Avila-Marydale.

Sacramental Minister:  Father Lawrence Nickels, O.F.M.

Father Nickels is the Executive Director of the Franciscan Connection, an outreach ministry of the Franciscan Province of the Sacred Heart.  The agency provides emergency utility aid and minor home repairs for the poor and elderly in South Saint Louis City.  One of his primary responsibilities is fund raising.  Father Nickels maintains the sacramental ministry on Saturdays and Sundays here at St Teresa's Church and also St. Felicitas Church of Beaver Prairie.


Deacon:  John R. Hempen

Deacon Hempen has been a lifetime member of St. Teresa Parish, a Catechist since 1990. He was ordained as a deacon on April 19, 1997.  John works as the Pastoral Care Associate at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Centralia, Il. since Aug, 2000.  He also serves as the Director of Parish School of Religion and is presently a member of the Pastoral Council.
