Registration Process for New Candidates 

2023-2024 Tournament Season

*** The registration process for NEW CANDIDATES opens July 6, 2023. ***

Please read the following information to understand the registration process.

Speech and debate is a wonderful activity for homeschool students ages 12-18 to learn how to think critically and speak effectively in order to become bold communicators for Christ. In order to achieve these amazing and valuable results, it requires a significant time commitment from parents and students alike. The registration process is designed to inform families about the requirements and benefits of participating in Mars Hill as well as to determine if speech and debate is right for you for the upcoming year. Those interested in joining our club need to follow the registration process as outlined below.

*PLEASE NOTE: To qualify for membership, you must be in agreement with our club’s Statement of Faith and be a homeschool* family If these do not apply to you, please do not proceed with membership. 

*“’Homeschool’ means a nonpublic school conducted primarily by the parent, guardian or other person who has custody of the child or nonpublic instruction provided in the child's home.” A.R.S. § 15-802(g)(2).

July 6- July 31 2023: Registration process for new candidates 

Step 1: Contact us via email at mhsdaz@gmail.com

Let us know you’re interested in learning more about our club, and we will set up a time for an informational meeting on the phone, Zoom, or in person (whichever you prefer). If you are married, it's best if your spouse can attend the meeting, too. 

Step 2: Receive a call or visit from a board member. 

This informational meeting has two purposes: 1. It allows us to get to know you, and 2. It allows you to learn the purpose, benefits and commitment involved in our club and ask any questions you may have.

Step 3: Pray about whether or not speech and debate is right for your family. If you decide that it is, proceed to Step 4.

Step 4: Send an email to mhsdaz@gmail.com stating that you would like to join Mars Hill. We will reply with a registration link and a "Welcome to Mars Hill!" 

Step 5: Use the link to register and pay for club by July 31, 2022.

Dates to Know:

June 1- July 31: Informational meetings for new candidates

July 6- July 31: Registration window for new members

Our club meets weekly on Monday afternoon/evening.

Monday, August 28: Mars Hill Kick-off

Monday, August 28: Mars Hill First Night of Club (Coaching and Novice Class)

Weekly club meetings end in April.

 (Students qualified for nationals will have coaching through May.)
