BSC Physics

There was once a dream that was 'Southern. You could only whisper it.
Anything more than a whisper and it would vanish. It was so fragile.

This web page exists only for historical purposes, to memorialize the late, and certainly great, BSC Physics program.

"The education I received from Birmingham-Southern helped me land a great job right out of college. BSC prepared me for the physics work, and for everything else that came at me, including writing papers and presenting briefings. The reputation and prestige of a BSC degree also helped me. The key to success as a Birmingham-Southern student is simple: take advantage of the unique opportunities because they will make you a much better person for it!"

Overview

The physics major at Birmingham-Southern will provide you with a powerful and versatile set of problem-solving skills as well as the insight needed to apply those skills to an unlimited expanse of situations. You will be able to pursue abstract questions about the universe and solve complicated practical problems.

In their research, BSC physics majors have resolved perplexing questions about Saturn, designed new techniques for analyzing neutrino data, and developed advanced methods for extracting gravitational radiation information from complex computer simulations. Students are encouraged to explore subjects they’re interested in and develop a deep understanding alongside our excellent faculty.
