Short Bio Note

Dr Odello is a Reader in Law at the Department of Law & Criminology, Aberystwyth University, UK. He teaches International Law, International Human Rights, European Law and Comparative Public Law in Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes. He also regularly supervises PhD and LLM thesis and dissertations. He is Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He is General Editor of the Cambrian Law Review, member of the editorial board of Revista Internacional de Mediación (Madrid), and of Cogent Social Science (Taylor & Francis).

He has taught International and Comparative Law, International Organisations, International Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, in various universities, including the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, Mexico City, and the University of Piura (Peru). He has been guest lecturer at the Central University of Venezuela (Caracas), at the University of Maracaibo (Venezuela), at the Universities of Oviedo, Madrid, Valencia, Jaén (Spain), at the University of Utrecht (The Netherlands), University of Lund (Sweden), at the Catholic University of Lille (France), at Swansea University, at Viadrina University (Frankfurt Oder), at the University of Buenos Aires. He has been invited to give lectures and presentations to international teaching and training programmes, including the NATO School, Oberammergau; the International and European Doctoral Seminar at the University of Nice; the LLM in International Criminal Law, University of Turin and UNICRI, and the Summer University on Human Rights in Geneva.

He was External Examiner for the MA on International Protection of Human Rights, Institute of Commonwealth Studies, University of London, for the LLM in International Human Rights, University of Liverpool. He has been a member of the Peer Review Panel of the British Council, of the Ministry of Education, University and Research (Italy), and International Expert for the Spanish National Evaluation Agency (Agencia Nacional de Evaluación y Prospectiva). He was also Visiting Fellow at the University of Cagliari (Italy) and Research Associate at the Institute of Commonwealth Studies, School of Advanced Study, University of London.

He has been a Researcher at the European Public Law Center (Athens), and at the Centre for Conflict and Security Law, University of Nottingham. He has worked and co-operated with international institutions, such as the Italian Committee for Unicef (Rome), the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (Rome), the Institute for University Cooperation (Rome), the Collège universitaire Henry Dunant (Geneva), and the International Institute of Humanitarian Law (San Remo).

In August 2012 he got a funded placement at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office in London. Between 2008 and 2011 he has been a co-investigator in a EU sponsored project on parental rights in child education.Between 2000 and 2003 he was an expert consultant for the University of Bologna in the EU Tempus Project ‘Towards a European Model Judge’.
