The batons were designed to allow the player to wave a magnet in front of the Hall Effect Sensor. The baton also housed the vibration motor which provided haptic feedback to the user, alerting them to when they were stung by the other player. The batons were constructed using a 1.25" wooden dowel, three magnets embedded into the front, and a small vibration motor embedded into the back. They were covered with soft grip tape to provide a better user feel and make them slip resistant. Additionally, a small magnet placed behind the Hall Effect Sensor made it easier to overcome the threshold necessary to trigger the sensor as well as provide some feedback to the user in the form of the magnet attracting the baton to the proper location.
