The preschool program at Trinity Lutheran Early Childhood Center offers a planned program to meet the developmental needs of each one of our students. Our curriculum includes activities and learning centers in all of the areas needed in order to provide for the spiritual, social, intellectual, physical, and emotional needs of a child. Children will be given opportunities to express themselves through a wide variety of experiences: games, art, play materials, role-play, large motor activities, singing, and rhythmic response to music.
In our preschool, we endeavor to create a classroom climate that reflects the love of Jesus. Through the preschool teachers, children come into contact with warm, loving, accepting adults who take an active interest in the child’s needs. Children learn and experience the Christian faith through planned activities.
Growth and development will be encouraged in such areas as art, music, dramatic play, personal hygiene and social awareness and adjustment.
Activities are in the context of fun and will not frustrate the child's need to achieve. Play activities are designed to develop large and small muscle control and coordination. Activities are arranged to provide a medium for discovery of the world that surrounds the child.
We reinforce the desirable social and behavioral traits of the child and discourage the undesirable traits. Aggressive feelings will be channeled into acceptable forms. Behavioral guidance will be given in a measure appropriate to the child's level of maturity. This will also focus upon building social and communication skills. Discipline always will be in the context of love and a balance of firmness and freedom. This will be directed toward the development of inner discipline and problem-solving skills so that the child may learn to consider the needs of others.
