Human Microbiome research has brought together scientists from all around the world to discuss new findings, their impacts and the future trends at the International Human Microbiome Congress.
This event has unified the two main Human Microbiome Consortiums: the Human Microbiome Project (USA, NIH initiative) and MetaHIT (European initiave) and also scientists from China, Japon and Canada. Dr. Francisco Guarner (from the Digestive unit of the VHRI, Barcelona, Spain) who belongs to the MetaHIT consortium, presented the last findings on the association between human microbiome and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
