Research Proposal Guidance
Part of the application for MPhil and Ph.D programmes, you will need to prepare a research proposal outlining your proposed area of study.
1. Brief title for your proposed programme of research
2. Your reasons and purposes for undertaking this project
- Highlight your interests in the area, does it meet your future ambients and is it based on
research you have conducted already.
3. Research project background
- Introduce the topic area.
- Why is this research important?
- What is the exact research question you are going to investigate.
- Highlight past research in the area with pros and cons.
- How will your research will add to knowledge in this area?
- Highlight the novelty of your research question.
4. Research project objectives
* Identify your research stages such as:
- Highlight specific areas to be investigated.
- What are you going to be developing.
- What sort of data are you going to be using.
- The size of your training/validation/testing/evaluation sets.
- How are you going to be collecting the data.
- How are you going to evaluate your research outputs.
5. Ethical issues
- Is there any potential risk to harm yourself or any participant of your research. If yes, then
how are you going to resolve/minimise it.

* Highlight a number of training sessions will help you through your research degree such as:
