Convert the Military-Industrial Complex

"Moving from a war economy to a peace economy" by Mary Beth Sullivan / The Humanist

Activists in Maine like those pictured above often bring the conversion message to the Bath Iron Works (BIW) shipyard operated by mega corporation General Dynamics. For years workers and community members have called for conversion from building weapons of mass destruction to retooling to build clean energy system components. Studies show jobs would be gained, not lost.

These are not impossible dreams. These conversions could be fully funded with the vast sums of money currently wasted on weapons systems and the for-profit corporations who make them.

Conversion is possible because human beings are intelligent and can adapt and change to care for one another instead of killing one another and polluting the planet.
