Research Interests: Industrial Organization, Applied Econometrics, International Finance, Computational Economics
My primary research focuses on the impact of technology and market policies on consumers, competition, and industry dynamism. In recent years, I have analyzed the impact of (de)regulation, entry regulations, state aid, regional, innovation, and trade policies on consumer welfare, firms' incentives to innovate, market power and market structure (e.g., entry and exit) in different industries (e.g., retail, pharmacy, high-tech services - software, telecom, broadband, manufacturing). My research has created novel tools based on recent advances in econometrics and computer science (e.g., machine learning, reinforcement learning, decision-making under uncertainty) that are used to understand the developments of newly complex markets.
