The dress and the scarf used as a hat band
are both Magicalrealist hand dyes. The dress
is silk mattelasse and was made about a decade
ago when Magicalrealist mostly supplied fabrics
by the bolt; I will still dye custom fabrics by the
bolt, just inquire.

Yes, that's a hand made Kindle case.
Yes, it is made from hand dyed silk fabrics and ribbons.
High tech and hand made go together just fine.
This scarf in pastel Southwestern colors brings a
nice bit of color to this outfit. It doesn't match anything;
it doesn't have to. Everything else in the outfit is a
neutral, so any color scarf would work.
Good news for those who hang on to their old clothes
until they come back into style: today's "mint" color,
seen here along with purple in the scarf used as a hat
band, is exactly the same color as the traditional
seafoam color. So if you have an old bridesmaid's dress
in "seafoam" whip it out and recast it in a new role.

A scarf can be either a feminine or masculine accessory, depending on how it is worn.
Totally butch: worn as a man's ascot.
Totally femme: worn twisted and knotted on the side.

To pair a scarf with a multicolor blouse, choose one color from the blouse and pair it with a mostly single-color scarf.

This scarf really matches this jacket. It was dyed to match. Magicalrealist offers a custom dyeing service.
Your scarf doesn't have to match, it only has to go with your outfit. Find inspiration from nature to see what goes with what. Does a multicolor scarf with mostly yellow and green go with a purple jacket? Of course it does. Inspiration: pansy.

This brown boucle skirt has strands of green, pink, and purple. Pair it with a green blouse and purple-brown scarf.

Monochrome and matching looks are back! In clothing fashion, in interior design fashion, in everything! For years, monochrome looks other than black or white were consider "too matchy-matchy" and a nursing-home look. But after cycling through all the decades of retro -- 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s-- a couple of times, now fashion is going retro in a new way and bringing back monochrome and matching looks.
Today's new matching looks have a little zing to them. This pearl grey suit has pink pinstripes; pair it with a pink scarf with grey branching lines.
