First of all, please know how INCREDIBLY hard these decisions were! You might hear that a lot in regards to casting, but at MW it is so true! There is so much talent at this school that, if we could a 2nd weekend, I could cast it with completely different leads and it would be equally as strong.
Second, I do not wish to disregard sad or disappointed feelings. Auditioning for a show and not getting what you want can hurt, but always know that it is never personal and it is not a reflection of talent. A lot of times, as with this show, it is needing the right fit for the role at this time. I hope everyone that showed up for this will also show up for the spring musical and beyond!
Alright, now to the logistics of this show!
Rehearsals begin next Monday the 25th at 4pm. I will quickly run down the design concept and then we'll have a read thru.
Sometime over the coming weekend look for a rehearsal schedule for next week.
Sometime over the weekend, look for a cut version of the script in PDF form. Proper, fully bound scripts are available but I felt it would be easier to cut the script on the computer versus having everyone cross out lines with a pencil. I still want you to use the bound scripts for historical info and the glossary in the back.
Always come to rehearsal with dress shoes and heels. Ladies should have a rehearsal skirt and men should have a tie that they can put on over a t-shirt if you must. I can't stress enough how you can't start too early in your understanding how the clothes were an integral part of these people.
Lastly, remember that we will be speaking in an upper class British accent whenever we are in the space from now on. (Except for Josh who must start using a French one!) Feel free to peruse Youtube for dialect videos and share them with each other.
That's it! Please confirm with Caroline your acceptance of your role with a quick "accepted," and I look forward to working with you all!
