Donating books and other materials:
The library accepts donations of books, audiobooks, and DVDs. We do not accept donations of encyclopedias or textbooks. All donations must be clean and in good condition.
Materials not needed in the library’s collection are sold in the library's book sale. Proceeds from the book sale are used to fund library books and materials. A receipt for your donation is available upon request. (No monetary value will be placed on the receipt, only the number of items donated.)
Memorials and Honorariums:
Donations may be made for the purchase of books, audiobooks, or DVDs “in memory of” or “in honor of” an individual or group. For specified memorial and honorarium purchased materials to have a "nameplate" placed within, the minimum donation required is $30.00. A sample nameplate reads as follows:
This book is donated by
Jane Doe
in Memory (or Honor) of
John Doe
Bequests and Other Donations:
The Macon County Public Library System Foundation accepts donations of cash, non-cash assets (stocks or real estate), life insurance, retirement plan assets, bequests under wills, and charitable requests on behalf of the Macon County Public Library System. (More information is listed below.)
