On September 26, 2016, California Governor Jerry Brown signed two important pieces of arts education legislation into law.
SB 916 calls for the creation/reinstatement of single subject credentials in Theatre and Dance. Since 1972, theatre and dance credentials have been a subset of English and PE credentials.
AB 2862 authorizes the revision of the California Visual and Performing Arts Standards by 2019.
As we have stated in earlier posts, SSPI Torlakson, has advised Governor Brown of his commitment to include "Media Arts Standards" in that revision.
