Biography

Ahmed Maalel holds a PhD in Computer Science (2015) and Habilitation to Direct Research (HDR) (2022) from the National School of Computer Science (ENSI, Tunisia). He is an Associate Professor at the Higher Institute of Applied Science and Technology of Sousse (ISSATSo), University of Sousse, Tunisia, and a researcher at the RIADI laboratory at ENSI. His research focuses on Artificial Intelligence, Decision Support Systems, Crisis Management, Gamification of Learning, and the Semantic Web.

Dr. Maalel is an IEEE Senior Member, Co-Founder and President of the Association of Scientific Research and Innovation in Computer Science (ARSII), and has served as a technical chair, TPC member, and reviewer for various international conferences and journals. From 2017 to 2021, he was the Horizon 2020 National Contact Point for ICT and Horizon Europe NCP for digital cluster at the Tunisian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

Dr. Maalel was a member of the University of Sousse Council (2020-2023) and leads the Project Management Office at the university, contributing to strategic initiatives and collaboration efforts.

He is the Regional Representative for EURAXESS Africa**, organizing local and regional events to promote EU research and provide support for participation in Horizon Europe. Dr. Maalel has contributed to networking and outreach activities across several African countries. He was also a participant in the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) by the U.S. Department of State, focusing on Science and Technology Entrepreneurship.
