The Oatley Electronics kit includes PCB, all onboard components, 9V battery connector, electret microphone insert and Shure dynamic microphone insert, Parabolic Dish.
An old camera tripod was used to support the parabola and microphone.
Sound recording could be done without line of sight of the male. Male at least 100 m away. (23 June 2007)
Audacity is free, open source software for recording and editing sounds. It is available for Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, GNU/Linux, and other operating systems available from http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
Trial Runs (at home)
Trial the Audacity software
Run the laptop and Sooper Snooper/microphone for the likely session times eg. 20 minutes, to check the battery life.
Location Setup
-Setup the parabola and tripod
-Connect the sound cable into the microphone jack on the laptop
-Turn on laptop
-Start the Audacity software to record
