BRAVERY RECOGNISED.

ROYAL HUMANE SOCIETY'S AWARDS.

The Court of Directors of the Royal Humane Society of New Zealand met yesterday afternoon, there being present: Mr R. C. Bishop (chairman), Mr W. H. Cheesman, the Rev. E. Eliot Chambers, Canon W. S. Bean, Mr C. D. Morris, and Mr F. C. B. Bishop (secretary). Subscriptions to the amount of £ls 8/6 were forwarded by Mr A. Juriss, of Oamaru.

The Gisborne Borough Council wrote stating that it would contribute the sum of £5 5/- to the funds of the Society, and the Gisborne Harbour Board intimated that it was contributing a similar amount. The Cook County Council wrote stating at it would contribute £5. The following award was made:

George Frederick Dobson (30) for rescuing Clarence Thompson (11) from drowning at Port Nelson on April 30, 1919; a certificate.
