I am a Permanent Researcher at UNAM's Institute for Philosophical Research. I am also a member of the Mexican National System of Researchers (SNII; level III from January 2025), a member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences, and a very proud member of the Logicians' Liberation League. I am Associate Editor of Studia Logica and a member of the International Editorial Board of Stoa.

I work mainly on philosophy of logic. I am particularly interested in logicality, general theories of logic, the foundations of contra-classical logics and the universality of logical relevance. I have also made some incursions into philosophy of science, philosophy of mathematics, metaphysics and philosophy of language. I am a founding member of the Lógica M∃X∀ group. (Fortunately, I have had a long life and I tried pottery, comic drawing, football, literary writing and experienced homelessness before devoting most of my time to philosophy.)

In the recent past, I received the RDUNJA award (2022), a Seal of Excellence from the European Commission (2021), a Coimbra Scholarship for Young Latin American Professors (2021) and an IDUB award for international professors (2020) from the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń.

I coordinated UNAM's Graduate Program in Philosophy of Science (2018-2021), I was a member of the Editorial Board of Diánoia (2018-2022) and nowadays I am a member of the Institute's Continuing Education Committee.

I did my PhD under the supervision of Ivonne Pallares-Vega on philosophical aspects of topos theory. In the meantime, I spent a year at the Bernoulli Institute for Mathematics, Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, and after PhD completion I spent one year and a half at the University of Tartu.
