Every day is different here at Little Lambs Childminding, however I maintain a structured timetable to ensure security and continuity. Not only do we follow the seven key areas of learning and development set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage, we also look to introduce the children to a number of additional learning experiences.
Set in a farmhouse, nestled in trees and open farmland we benefit from having lots of space both indoors and out! Our playroom offers a stimulating, exciting and educational environment for children aged 6 weeks to 8 years old. We have a range of toys, books and puzzles and also do lots of cooking, messy play, role play, dancing and singing. There is also the opportunity to do crafts and 'mark-making' for younger children as well as having a quiet corner for when children wish to relax.
One of the main attractions of Little Lambs Childminding is the vast amount of outdoor space on offer and the learning opportunities that go alongside this. We allow the children to explore, take risks and enjoy the outdoors in a safe environment, that encourages confidence, communication and the development of relationships.
Our outdoor area involves exploring the farm and interacting with the animals as well as the large garden area. Our garden promotes active, imaginative play and offers development in all areas of the EYFS. We have a sandpit, water area, Mud Kitchen, large chalkboards, ride-ons, a tractor, climbing frame, trampoline as well as a gardening area and greenhouse where we grow our own vegetables which the children love to eat. The children also enjoy seeing the chickens and collecting their eggs.
We aim to have our little lambs outdoors come rain or shine - wellies or suncream - you can feel confident that your child will have plenty of fresh air and exercise and will have lots of stories to tell you about their adventures.
We have recently developed an area of woodland on the farm for the children to access. Learning in such a natural outdoor spaces has many benefits for them and we love that we can offer such an amazing environment within walking distance. The children eagerly run down to the woods where they become involved with a whole range of activities such as; climbing, yoga, painting, bug hunts and many more!
There are many local playgroups and childminding groups that I will attend with the children so that they have the opportunity to socialise with additional children and explore different environments. Additionally, the children enjoy being taken on outings to local attractions such as Thorpe Perrow, Foxglove Covert and High Park Cafe.
