Books by Stephen Roberts

Stephen Roberts is Visiting Research Fellow in Victorian History at Newman University, Birmingham.  Prior to this, he was for many years a Fellow of the Institute for Advanced Research in Arts and Social Sciences in the University of Birmingham and Head of Humanities at Hagley Catholic High School in Worcestershire.  Much of his published work has been concerned with Chartism, including The Chartist Movement: A New Annotated Bibliography (1995), which was short-listed for the Besterman Medal, and The Chartist Prisoners (2008). His interest in Victorian and Edwardian Birmingham has resulted in contributions to local history journals and short biographies of, amongst others, the poet and antiquarian John Alfred Langford and the photographer and Tory politician Sir Benjamin Stone.
