21% of the radiology workforce is female, and female radiology residents have remained stable in recent years at only 26% despite efforts to attract more women into radiology. Given these challenges, mentorship is instrumental in women's professional choices and a key element for a successful career. Loma Linda is blessed to be a place filled with many strong, independent, and successful female radiologists. The Women in Radiology Mentoring Group was established to recruit, influence and mentor female radiology residents and medical students. Several events are held outside of the hospital each year to serve as opportunities for connection and mentorship between our female attending staff and residents, as well as connection and recruiting opportunities for interested female medical students. Past events have included dinners, hiking, flower bouquet lessons, and cooking.
