J. Paul Jacobson, MD, MPH
Dr. Jacobson was born in Loma Linda. He attended college in Napa Valley, California. Before medical school, he spent a year in Norway. He then moved to UC San Diego, where he earned his MD degree in 1997. Next, Dr. Jacobson returned to Loma Linda University Medical Center (LLUMC) for a residency in general surgery. During the second year of his surgery residency, he was recruited to the radiology residency program. After residency, he took a neuroradiology fellowship at LLUMC and subsequently joined the faculty in 2004. He trained further in interventional neuroradiology, partly in Geneva, Switzerland, with Professor Daniel Rüfenacht. He has since been a GERRAF fellow and earned an MPH in Clinical Effectiveness at Harvard University School of Public Health. Dr. Jacobson is married to Brenna, a pediatric anesthesiologist, and has two children, Winston and Kate. He enjoys history, philosophy, and weightlifting.
Erica Kinne, MD
Dr. Kinne was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio. She then attended Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, TN where she completed her undergraduate degree in business administration. She next earned her medical doctor degree from Loma Linda University School of Medicine (2008). Dr. Kinne stayed at Loma Linda for her radiology residency. Then, she went to University California San Diego for a fellowship in musculoskeletal radiology. She returned to the LLUMC department of radiology faculty in 2014. Dr. Kinne’s interests include running, cycling, golf, and traveling.
Daniel Kido, MD
Dr. Kido is an alumnus of the Loma Linda University School of Medicine (1965). He married his wife, Elissa, during his third year of medical school. After graduating, he spent three years in the U.S. Army in Europe as a general medical officer. He then returned to LAC-USC Medical Center (1969-1973) to complete a radiology residency, after which he did a neuroradiology fellowship at NYH-Cornell Medical Center (1974-1976). He subsequently worked at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School (1976-1981), Strong Memorial Hospital, University of Rochester (1981-1991), and Barnes Hospital, Washington University (1991-2000). In 2000, Elissa and he decided to move back to California to be closer to family. He enjoys gardening and golf, and is currently completing his first book titled Head or Tails: Are your choices any better than change, which resulted from his research interest in medical decision making.
Scott Fujimoto, DO
Dr. Fujimoto is a native East Coaster, born and raised in Philadelphia, and completed his undergraduate studies at Bowdoin College in Maine. After spending 5 years in neurosurgery research at the University of Pennsylvania, he decided to pursue medicine and moved cross-country to attend Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine. After finishing residency at UC Irvine, he completed a VIR fellowship at Loma Linda University Medical Center. What attracted him to the fellowship was the interesting case mix, with a strong emphasis on peripheral arterial disease and oncology. However, what led him to stay were the wonderful and supportive working environment and the great relationships he developed with the faculty and staff. In addition, he is passionate about the mission of the hospital to provide compassionate, whole person care. His interests outside of the hospital include enjoying the outdoors with his three boys, attending Anaheim Ducks games, and golfing when he can find the time.
Paggie Kim, MD, MPH
Dr. Kim was born and raised in Hong Kong until the age of 17 when her family moved to the United States. She earned her undergraduate degree at UC-Riverside, and completed her MD degree at LLUSM (2008). She then did her radiology residency at LLUMC. Next, Dr. Kim did a pediatric radiology fellowship at LLUMC (2014). She then completed a neuroradiology fellowship at LLUMC (2015). Dr. Kim has a particular interest in research, and is currently working on multiple projects related to physiologic imaging utilizing MRI.
Michael Staton, MD
Dr. Staton was born in West Virginia but spent the majority of his childhood in El Centro, CA. After completing his undergraduate education at the University of San Diego he returned to Marshall University in West Virginia, where he completed medical school. He then went on to complete his radiology residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center, before returning to San Diego to attend University of California, San Diego for a fellowship in magnetic resonance imaging. He then accepted a position with Loma Linda Radiology in the body and ultrasound sections. Michael enjoys spending time with his wife, Danielle, who is a pediatric hematology / oncology pharmacist at Loma Linda University Medical Center. His other interests include cooking for friends and family, computers, and very amateur woodworking.
