Clean-up Days

The third Saturday of each month we do a trash sweep of the neighborhood. We'll meet at 2pm until it gets too hot, then we can aim for early morning. Two hours as a group should be all we need to do. Whatever we pick up we normally will need to take home to add to our trash / recycling day collection. If we do a special job that results in a big haul, we can get Neighborhood Services to come pick it up.

Keep Durham Beautiful has given us 10 grabbers, hoops for keeping trash bags open, gloves, high visibility vests, etc. If we find we have lots of people helping, we can get more. If we take pictures of our event, they will probably post them to their website.

If you are a regular cleaner upper person, let me know and I'll pass your name on ... they'll put you on an official list which means you'll be covered by their insurance. If you spend time outside of one of our regular sweeps, let me know ... they get matching funds for all the hours citizens put in, so we should keep track.

Keep Durham Beautiful offers grants of up to $500 for neighborhood beautification ... flowers etc. ... so if anybody is interested in that, let's talk the last Saturday of this month!
