Session 14 - Unit Plan Due

Learning Outcomes:

CLO 5252.1 Identify and implement the California Board of Education Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for English Language Arts and Literacy in History/Social Studies along with the California History-Social Studies Content Standards (TPE 1b, 8, 9, 12 & 13).

CLO 5252.2 Plan and write lessons and activities for all learners to maximize their ability to meet and/or exceed the CCSS (TPE 1b, 2, 4, 5, 6c, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12 & 13).

CLO 5252.3 Demonstrate an understanding of oral, written, and visual literacy and the ability to promote and instruct on oral, written, and visual literacy in the teaching of social studies and history (TPE 1b, 2, 4, 5, 7, 10).

CLO 5252.4 Demonstrate competence in creating unit plans and instructional programs in Common Core English/Language Arts and Social Studies content areas (TPE 1b, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6c, 7, 9, 10, 11).

CLO 5252.5 Create and implement lessons, assignments, assessments, and other learning tools that provide challenging educational experiences and opportunities for all learners (TPE 1b, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6c, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 & 13).

CLO 5252.6 Provide grade-level learning experiences that create the necessary groundwork for student learning success in subsequent courses (TPE 1b, 4, 5, 6c, 7, 8, 9, 10).

CLO 5252.7 Explore and to research effective, current research-based methods and curricula that promote optimal learning environments for students (TPE 1b, 2, 4, 5, 6c, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 & 13).

DUE - Unit Plan

Checklist for your Unit Plan:

Must cover at least ten days total (2 weeks if you meet daily). Daily plans required (in outline form is fine- you may use the five LMU Lessons Formats if you have not already used them in your teaching). I need to see what you are doing and what the students are doing EVERYDAY. Must cover an entire standard or unit such as the Civil War (not half of the Civil War). Whatever you start, please finish. Be sure to cover these topics:

Standards, Feedback, Accommodations

Levels of Questioning (Bloom and Costa)

Preformative, Formative, & Summative assessments

Feedback

Writing Assignments

Rubrics

Primary Source Document

Secondary Sources

Use of graphic materials (photos, graphs, political cartoons, etc.)

Use of multimedia (Video Presentation)

Socratic Seminar

All unit handouts, assessments, presentations (videos, PowerPoints, websites, etc.) must be included or linked to (Everything you link must be visible or I cannot give you credit for it. Do not share it with me, publish it for the world to see because you won't know how I will be logged in.)

Self-Evaluation

Below you see the Rubric for your Unit Plan. After you post your Unit Plan, do a self-evaluation of your Unit Plan. I will also be providing feedback via email.

If you need a template to use for your Unit Plan, attached below you will find one I recommend. You are free to use whichever format you wish. You can use the one your school requires. I need to see what YOU are doing EACH DAY for at least 2 weeks and what the students will be doing each day as well. The document below is a Google Drive Template which can be found here.

Next Week: Video presentation of your Unit - Please present your unit as if we were all in the same room with you. Please do not use the talking head format, instead, feature your unit. Let us look at your materials.

The presentation should be 3-4 minutes.
