Chapter 4 & 5- Number Theory & Fractions

This unit will focus on primarily the following learning objectives:

TLW (The Learner Will):

1.) Learn to check for divisibility using mental math and to use divisibility to solve problems.

2.) Learn how to use exponents and how to simplify expressions using exponents.

3.) Factor numbers and find the prime factorization of numbers.

4.) Find the GCF (Greatest Common Factor) of two or more numbers.

5.) Find equivalent forms of fractions.

6.) Use mixed numbers and improper fractions to solve real world problems.

7.) Find the least common multiple of two or more numbers.

8.) Learn to compare and order fractions.

9.) Find equivalent forms of fractions and decimals.

10.) Order fractions and decimals.

11.) Learn how to add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators.

12.) Learn to add and subtract mixed numbers.

6.EE.2 – Write, read, and evaluate expressions in which letters stand for numbers.

6.EE.6 – Use variables to represent numbers and write expressions when solving a real-world or mathematical problem; understand that a variable can represent an unknown number.
