A Record of Shelford Parva

A fascinating book about the history of Little Shelford is about to be re-published.

Around 100 years ago, Fanny Wale wrote and illustrated a book called A Record of Shelford Parva about the history of Little Shelford. The book includes colour and black and white paintings, drawings and photos of Little Shelford in the 19th and early 20th century. The book was never published and the only copy is kept in the Cambridgeshire Archives.

Now the beautiful book has been re-published at www.littleshelfordhistory.co.uk. Follow the link above where every page is available to read. There is also a searchable PDF of the book available.

You can here a BBC Radio Cambridgeshire interview about the book here

Fanny Wale created a few black and white copies of the book and called it A Record of the Shelfords Magna and Parva in Cambridgeshire. This version of the book also includes handwritten notes by Fanny Wale herself as well as some of her drawings not used in her original book. References in the book would suggest it was copied around 1930. Photos of all the notes and additions in the updated book can be found here.

Copies of the book are £30 each plus £4.95 p and p for those outside of the Shelfords.
