Teina Moetara is primarily of Rongowhakaata & Ngāpuhi descent. His practice of listening grows out of a complex worldview specific to these genealogies. He has developed a practice in the performing arts as a way to articulate and translate the ‘listening’ technologies of tangata whenua into contemporary settings.

Teina is an educator, a learner, a husband and father of three young girls – Maramaria (6), Rongoiamo (4) & Bebe-Rongorito (2). He is connected intimately to his home community, and mārae, and tutors Tu Te Manawa Maurea Kapa Haka. Teina and his family are living on their papa-kainga in Manutuke. He is currently serving a long-term relieving teaching position at Manutuke Primary School.
