Acer Aspire One

Maximizing the Workspace

The Acer Aspire One, other netbooks, and some older machines, have high resolution limitations.

Working at 1024x600, 800x600, or even 1024x768, can be a difficult task.

You can improve your working area by changing a few settings.

Go to menu System -> Preferences -> Appearance. (At least under FEDORA 11 using GNOME desktop)

    • Under the Theme tab browse through themes. You'll notice that some of them will allow more (or less) working space. Choose the one you like best, and/or customize one for best aspect and working space.

    • At the Fonts tab you'll be able to reduce font size so that you'll get an information on screen increase. At the Acer Aspire One I'm using all fonts set to size 6, and it shows a very high quality font design even on that small size.

    • At the Interface tab, you'll can opt to remove icons or text from toolbars, thus being able to reduce the space taken by toolbars.

Wireless Connectivity (WiFi)

Under Fedora 11, the integrated wireless interface works out of the box, including the on/off switch, and the related LED (which flashes when traffic is going through).
