The Beacon ! “Linden United Methodist Church Welcomes You”
Through the grace of God, we create opportunities where all people can seek God and enhance their faith. On our journey we seek awareness of each other’s needs through open communication and prayer.
Reaching out, we are God’s hands in action.

”Easter Renewal”
As I write my greetings this year, the excitement of the season of spring is upon us, but the weather is fully cooperating. The freshness of spring will soon beckon us out of our homes and into our gardens and into the greater outdoors. It is, for many, the season of renewal of activities we enjoy doing outside.
This time of year can also be a time for renewal of activities of a spirit-filled nature: The chance to take a brisk walk surrounded by Creation; A chance to marvel at the rebirthing of plants and animals in that creation. The lead up time to Easter, the season of Lent, immerses us in some of the dirty, testy stuff of human life. Then we make our way, like the eye witnesses to the resurrection, to the words of the gospel, “He is not here, He is risen” And from that moment on the world would not be the same. The dark, dreary days of pre-Easter agony and death, are renewed with the Spirit of a Risen and Living Lord.
May this Easter be a time of rebirth and renewal for you in your spiritual journey. And may you know the blessings of a risen Christ in your life!
Blessings of Easter,
Pastor Kim

Palm Sunday Service April 1 @ 10:30a.m.
Good Friday Service April 6 @ 6:30 p.m.

Work Day is “not” all work !
OK, there will be work to do! However, there will be fellowship while you work (kind of like whistle while you work) and if we’re lucky some energy food, too.
Save the date and come with tools (optional) and muscle (optional) 9:00 am on Saturday, March 17th.
Stay as long as you want or find a chore you can do on your time (you would miss the fellowship, but we understand). Many hands make the work easier, for sure!
“Pennies From Heaven “
In memory of “Frannie” Podesta, Sue Pelot is promoting “Pennies from Heaven” collecting to help with church expenses. There will be a jar in the Narthex at church for your pennies, other loose change, and even bills. Remember to collect your change during the weeks at home and deposit it on Sunday mornings. Fran would be please to see how those coins add up to help LUMC.
Methodist Women's Club
Please join us the second Tuesdays of the month in the Church Parlor at 10:30 am. Lunch will be provided for March - Yummy!
Remember to bring your “fellowship, smiles, joy, and love of God. Great connecting times! Bring a friend, too.
See you at 10:30 am in the parlor !
Financial News!
Thanks to a “generous gift” our loan payments have been made through this Aug. The $$ that would normally go to the monthly loan payment are being paid toward our annual apportionments. Good news, the parsonage was rented in mid-January, so the expenses for the pastor's housing allowance, yard service, and general maintenance are being covered by that income with a little left over for the capital improvements account.
We are meeting March 8 and will make more definite plans for our first fund raiser of the year, the Cherry Festival. All hands are needed on that day for set up/take down, BBQ-ing , dessert making and packaging, selling, etc. Ticket sales for the opportunity drawing for the Mendocino House will begin in May. HURRAH! Ticket sales will continue until the Brats BBQ in August when the drawing will take place. Remember, the more tickets you buy, the better your chances are to enjoy the relaxing ocean view house. Go for it!
Busy and productive times are ahead. Go LUMC!!!
”Welcome Annual Spring Picnic”
Are you ready for spring to start so that picnicking can start to enjoy God’s outside world? We are, too! Be ready to join in the Church’s potluck picnic on Sunday, April 22 right after church. AND, this year we will be at parishioner Alan Hansen’s home at 11200 N. Tully for a great time of food, games, sunshine, animal viewing, and, of course, GREAT fellowship. Maps will be available in the narthex . Mark your calendars to help make spring official with LUMC.!!! Invite families and friends, all are welcome.
Look for the Jenkins’ 1926 Model T Ford for rides, too.
