Reiki FAQ

Reiki is energy healing. Some people do it intuitively and others, like myself, have gotten our "education" through the trainings of Reiki.

1. Will Reiki go against my religious beliefs?

Reiki is not about Religion it is about healing coming straight from the Source. You do not even have to believe in God. You only have to have a desire to be healed.

2. Will I see results immediately?

You will feel immediate results. The depth and length of the result varies with the individual. Soothing relaxation is often the first sign that the Receiver is feeling the effects of Reiki.

3. What will you do during a Reiki Session?

I will lightly place my hands at certain points on your body. We will do your front first down to your feet and then you will turn and lay on your belly and I will lightly place my hand at certain places on your back. I am very careful not to touch sensitive or private areas. The average Reiki session is 1 hour. It may run a bit longer if the Receiver needs extra attention to problem areas.

4. Is this like a massage?

While some Massage Therapists have discovered the benefits to their clients with Reiki energy, not all Reiki Practitioners are Massage Therapists. I only use Reiki.

5. Do I have to take my clothes off for a Reiki Session?

No. Reiki Energy flows through clothing. You may be asked to remove glasses, watches, earrings or anything that may interfer with the Practitioner channeling the energy.

6. Why do Reiki practitioners and teachers need to charge for this transference of energy since it comes from a spiritual Source?

Reiki practitioners and teachers live in the material world just as their clients do, and they receive money for services rendered as a form of energy that enables them to continue their work and own spiritual path--not unlike doctors, chiropractors and any other health care professional.

7. Can Reiki fix everything that's ailing me?

That depends. To quote Joyce Morris in her book Reiki: Hands that Heal: "Reiki is not a "fix all" system. It can create massive change in health, prosperity, spiritual growth and relationships...However to maintain what Reiki creates you must make changes in your life or your lifestyle.

8. Are you a licensed practitioner?

Unlike massage, there are no licensing requirements for Reiki practitioners in California. Reiki is a form of complementary medicine, which enhances the body's ability to heal itself. Marlan is a Level III Reiki teacher, and not a licensed physician. Reiki is a complement to more traditional western medicine provided by doctors, nurses and hospitals.
